How the test works

  1. You see 20 words, four from each 100-word band of the frequency list (words 1–100, 101–200, and so on up to 500).
  2. Pick the English meaning, or choose “I don't know”. Guessing only makes your estimate less accurate.
  3. Your score in each band scales up to an estimate of how many of the 500 words you know, plus a list of the words you missed.
